  1. Intel Audio Service Won't Run Because IntelAudioService.exe file is missing

I am not sure if this is connected with problems I am having with Dell XPS 13 9370 (internal speakers don't work or when they do I get excessively loud popping, skipping, hissing noises) but Intel Audio Service is set to automatic but is not running and when I click on Start I get the message "system cannot find the specified file (C:\Windows\system32\cAVS\Intel(R) Audio Service\IntelAudioService.exe)" and in checking File explorer there is no such file on that path. I have tried every recommended (by Dell) Realtek Driver (high definition audio) as well as uninstalling and then re-installing any Intel device driver listed in Device Manager which references sound (Intel Display Audio, Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller, all devices listed under Audio Inputs and Outputs) and have updated and re-installed BIOS, firmware Chip Controllers. Also have ran troubleshooters (MS and Dell). And no change on internal speaker problems and Intel Audio Service is still missing intelaudioservice.exe file. I have tried to locate a source to download that file from on the internet but all references lead no where.

And you tell me if Intel Audio Service should be running and if so how I can get that file? (I have ran sfc /scannow and all DSIMs with no errors reported and have performed a clean install but the file just doesn't show up).

Additionally I get daily Reliability Errors showing that IntelAudioService crashes.

Help: IntelAudioService doesn't start and logs errors

    Method1:

    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    Running OK

    • Multimedia Class Scheduler
No such service found on any of my Windows computers

    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    Running OK

    Method2:

I've been through most of this already; as explained this is a scratch reinstall.

    Method3:

    Is already OK

To confirm that my current workaround (set the startup to Manual-> do not run the service) is harmless, please try to find out:

    - is IntelAudioService part of the generic Windows10 installation (or is it an OEM or third-party driver component) ?

    - [if the former is true] what is the purpose of this service ?

This would help a lot before deciding if I should spend more expensive time troubleshooting the issue
