Windows 10: Intel Audio Stops Working Randomly

I have an intel based Alienware M15 R7 and when the system starts the sound over hdmi to the monitor with speakers works, however after some time, the audio just stops working from all apps spotify, any games i'm playing, etc. If I look around at the audio settings, mixers, etc, everything is behaving as though the audio is working fine spotify thinks its playing, games do their thing, there are no errors that I can see.Dell's site suggests that the audio devices is a Realtek ALC3254 or ALC3204.Temporarily, I've turned optimus off in the bios so now audio is forced through the nvidia chi

audio randomly stops working

Hello all,

My computer is currently connected to my Vizio E420-A0 TV (HDMI). My audio randomly stops working and the display audio device disappears. When it works I can see it in device manager:








And when it stops working it disappears:





The driver seems to be up to date:





Disconnecting and reconnecting the cable doesn't help or turning the TV off and on, but rebooting fixes it. Any ideas?

Try the equivalent on your system of this (not all terms may precisely match your setup)

Note: as you may have found, a number of threads on this topic are unsolved.

You may wish to consider doing an in-place upgrade repair install if no solution is found.

Also consider the possibility of hardware failure. You could check the card is seated, cables secure.
