    Intel - Core i7-9700K motherboard compatibility

    Hi all, looking to upgrade my build to an Intel - Core i7-9700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor but basically every motherboard I plop into pcpartpicker seems to give me this error


    • Some Intel B360/H310/Z370 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Coffee Lake Refresh CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.


    Not really sure what to do or what motherboard to choose. I don't really want to spend a lot of money or do anything fancy, just something that works with my CPU is all I need. Even when I pick motherboards that pcpartpicker says are compatible, I get this message. I'm scared of buying the wrong one and destroying my parts lol. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    well to be honest, if you dont want to spend alot of money or do anything fancy, why spend so much on a cpu when you could buy an i5 Intel BX80684I58600K 8th Gen Core i5-8600K Processor: Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories and motherboard for the same cost as the i7 CPU?

    however, this is your choice and I understand sometimes need overtakes requirement *Smile

    When I click on the compatible motherboards and select at random Asus ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming there are no warnings as you state in the original Post!

    I would suggest pick a motherboard and go to the vendor website direct and check CPU compatibility
    You will also get the correct memory specifications from here.
    Also, buy on amazon and you can return !!!
