  1. Intel HD 630 and gtx 1050 display/fullscreen issues. (windows 10 1903)

I have a laptop with dual graphics, Intel HD 630 and a gtx 1050. I'm assuming i'm having these terrible display issues because of 1909 update, not 1903.

I use an external vg248qe 144hz monitor for gaming. I plug in my display port to usb-c connection for 144hz. Hdmi port doesn't go up to 144hz. Anyways, whenever I boot up into a game into borderless windows, or windowed mode it's fine. But I I try Fullscreen mode the screen will flash the black a couple of times and bam, display port no signal. Windows adjusts my main display to just my laptop screen. BUT if I plug in my HDMI cable and just use that, it's fine and dandy I can fullscreen, monitor has signal and it works for gaming. (but only at 60hz -its hdmi)

BUT if I immediately after booting into windows and open the game (tf2 for example) the game will run in fullscreen mode with my displayport-usb-c connection. Only after having windows 10 running for a bit, and closing the game and if I feel like booting up tf2 again, bam no signal for usb-c.

The only way to fix it is to do a COMPLETE power down, remove the AC cord, and hold the power button for 30 seconds to reset the connection. Regular reboot won't solve the no-signal issue. Has to be a power reset.

So I assumed maybe I can just have both HDMI AND USB-C plugged in, run the game on my display on HDMI mode, and then switch it to display port once i've opened the game up. But no. Windows 10 NOW detects three different monitors when I have both cables plugged in. It's essentially allowing my to mouse to move to a different screen when I only have two displays (external monitor and laptop) and treating the new cable as a new monitor. (this previously didn't happen.) so with this new windows 10 1903 update, OR Intel Graphics Command Center which also came with it, screwing up things. Because now if I open up a game it will launch in hdmi, but once I switch to display port, the game doesn't show up because it's on the HDMI monitor. (I know for a fact this worked before because I remember having doing this many times before on previous 1803 installation.)

So how can I get games to fullscreen now in display-port mode with USC-C connection, or allow HDMI and usb-c cable to be both plugged in without having 3 monitors detected by windows 10 instead of just 2.

  2. Black screen after installing Intel HD Graphics 630 driver

The screen turns black as soon as Intel HD Graphics 630 drivers are updated.

All other drivers are installed and updated.

Everything works normally until the driver is being installed. During the installation process the screen goes black. The cursor does not appear and the keyboard is still lit.

Whenever i restarted the laptop, after the windows loading screen, the screen goes back to black. The solution is to enter safe mode and uninstall the HD Graphics 630 driver, therefore
using the Microsoft Basic Video Adapter.

However, with this basic driver, the laptop performance drops in applications that require graphics processing, making it impractical to use in such situations.

    I tried these possible solutions:

    • I tried to install several versions of the driver, which were available on the dell website itself or on the intel website, and all of them had a black screen during the installation.
    • I disabled Windows Update because it was Installing the driver automatically and the screen was turning black after a few minutes, so it doesn't work too.
    • I have also completely uninstalled the nvidia and intel drivers using DDU and tried to install hd graphics 630 drivers, but the black screen still persists.
    • Tried to update using the device manager. Same thing, screen still turns black.
    • I also tried to use an external monitor to see if there was video, the issue persists.
    • I already contacted dell and intell support, noboby seems to have a solution.

updated Intel HD 630 but Resolution problem

I updated Intel HD graphics 630 because windows said it was anew version. But after I restarted my laptop which native resolution is 1980 x 1080 was stuck at 1366 x 768. under that it was lines and a single line in the middle. i went to the display setting and the resolution was grayed out but 1366 x 768 was the recommended resolution. it wouldn't let me roll back to a previous version either. sometimes it would randomly go back to 1980 x 1080 but there be a block of grey at the bottom idk what to do anymore *Sad
