Windows 10 just installed on my laptop.. and it refuses to allow me to open an overlay editor. It complains that it has a problem with my intel HD Graphics 4600 card.
I downloaded the latest new drivers for this card - ones that were made available because of the release of Windows 10 and this installation made no difference. I even uninstalled the existing drivers and than rebooted. No luck.

What have I missed?? Everything else seems to work. I have only had windows 10 on my laptop now for about 2 hours. Not sure what will happen later as time goes on.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    :)

A lot of people has got this problem... And they just do nothing with this... It seems to be problem with Intel HD Graphics. Do You all have Intel HD Graphics 4600?

Maybe Microsoft should push Intel to make new drivers?

Hi ve1drg and welcome to the forum *Smile

Please complete your system specs within your profile in full. In particular, where it asks for make and model of device, just saying Lenovo is insufficient.

    • Is this a Win10 upgrade or a clean install?
    • What method did you use to upgrade?
    • Did you confirm activation of Win10?
    • Please post a screenshot of your device manager.
    • With the exception of you downloading the latest driver for the 4600, have you changed any other drivers from the default Microsoft drivers installed during the upgrade /Win10 clean install?

What is the exact version number of the driver, which you are using for that graphics card?

I am running an Intel HD card myself, using the 15.28.24.64.4229 driver, and it is just working nicely... Actually this driver is even working better for me under Windows 10 than it did under Windows 8.1. *Biggrin

4600 is the version number. I see that on drivers area and system info.

That is the name of the card. It is an Intel HD 4600 graphics card.

Please have a look into the device manager, rightclick on this graphics card and select "Properties" or "Details". Then check the version information on the driver for that card. This version can more or less be anything - it is not 4600.

OK. I just went to device manager and right clicked on the graphics card and under details the following comes up:

    Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

I don't know what else to do. Or say. And the Physical Device Ojbect name is : \Device\NTPNP_PCI0001

    • Download and install Speccy (when you click on it, download will immediately commence)
    • Start Speccy
    • Click on the "Graphics Button"
    • Do a screenshot of the Graphics and post here
    • It will display your current graphics driver and will look something like the screenshot I have posted below (please note where it says the driver version for my Intel HD graphics). Please click to expand the image below

You can find the driver another way that doesn't require a download. But by downloading Speccy, it means you will always have your full technical specifications readily available should the need arise

I have never used Speccy, but the screenshot WhyMe provided shows a line "Driver version". That is the info we are looking for.

In the Device Manager, you have actually been so close to it:

In the properties, on the tab called "Driver" it has the name of the driver provider (which must not necessarily be Intel) and way more important it also has the driver version information.
    See this screenshot:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/image/s...v=mpbl-1&px=-1
    Here it says 10.18.10.3621.

    @Joergi

I don't use Speccy either. I only downloaded it so that I could post screenshots and support those users who have minimal tech knowledge. It's just a nice little tool to get system info for users who are not comfortable navigating around their system. *Smile

@WhyMe: Piriform in fact has a number of small little tools: Defraggler, CCleaner, Recuva. In fact nothing I need on a daily basis, but all of these have been helpful to me at least once.

Maybe the thing with the driver and the card can be explained with a comparison or an allegory:

A driver is to a graphics card what it is to a car:

Let's say you have a Mercedes 190 SL. This is your car. Now the driver can be you yourself, or your brother can be the driver or your sister can be the driver. The car still stays a 190 SL, but the driver is different.
And it's the same for a graphics card: The card is a HD 4600, but the driver may have the "name" (version number) 2342 or 4229 or anything else.
