Windows 10: intel hd graphics driver

i am running intel i3 1st gen m330 2.13 GHz processor with in-built intel HD graphics (core i3). before upgrading to windows 10 whenever I used to play any pc games the display scaled to full screen but after upgrading to windows 10 play the games I want to play at low resolutions, black borders on the sides appear making the display weird. I tried to change the resolution from the display scaling in the control panel and then change the resolution from the intel graphics control panel. but nothing works. thought I would wait for the latest major update for windows 10 but even after that, nothing seemed to have changed for me. are there any other solutions? please help

Intel Graphics Settings

Your best option is to re-install the Intel HD Graphics driver software, which will include the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel

Make a note of the version of your HD Graphics - You will find this in Device Manager - Display Driver (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

Go to the
Intel Website and download the latest driver for that version of Intel HD Graphics

 

KNOWN PROBLEM WITH INTEL HD 4000 DRIVER

Are you saying intel HD graphic adapter version
10.18.10.4276 is for Intel stick and not for your laptop?

It may be used for Intel stick but that driver is also Intel's recommended driver for many other intel processors that use HD 4000 graphics.

My ASUS K55-A came with Intel i7 processor & HD 4000 graphic adapter installed. The Intel graphic drivers that I download are from Intel driver website for HD 4000 graphics. The Intel driver version
10.18.10.3308 is actually two year old and it is also given as ASUS recommended driver for my ASUS laptop. If you are getting same DirectX performance on W10 with that driver that I get with a newer version then no reason to change.

 

At a guess, the Microsoft Basic display drivers are what is installed for your laptop.

Intel has not released Windows 10 drivers for that CPU. You could try some Win 7 drivers:

Download Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, Windows 7* 64, Windows Vista* 64 (exe)

They may work. Or, it may be possible to get them in using work-arounds (install in compatibility mode, manually force a driver update).

It's regrettable that Intel is not supporting hardware that is less than 6 years old, but they are under no legal obligation to do so.

 

should I uninstall the previous basic driver and then install the driver in the given link??

I think Intel is supporting Windows 10 my intel HD 4600 I think has windows 10 support.

 

Yes, some versions are supported and some aren't... Your 4600 just came out with a new one but what VigilantLoki has isn't supported and I doubt Intel will create a driver for it

This is a setting issue, not driver issue. Right-click on the desktop and select Graphics properties to open the Intel control panel. Go at the monitor section, there should be somewhere a scaling option. Make sure you have set that to fill the screen without borders, not to keep the aspect ratio. I currently not have Intel to guide you exactly. In nVidia you can also select scaling to be controlled by GPU (gives better picture) than monitor, but I am not sure if this is possible with Intel graphics.

 

I have tried this earlier already but as I have said earlier nothing seemed to have changed. and I don't have a NVidia gpu. only intel

 

For your information I just checked what it said on my settings and what I have is maintain the display setting. I don't know if that would help you any. I have a intel gpu.

 

yes the same setting is present for me but whenever I try to change the setting to scale full screen and save and exit I find that the old settings have reverted back to its original maintain aspect ratio

 

Then some other application or display setting might conflict with that. I remember that choosing full screen without borders did the trick, but I don't have access to an Intel graphics card right now to confirm.
