    Intel i5-7300U CPU logical processors only showing 2 at task manager but the device manager...


    Hello,

    I am stuck the VMware Virtual Machine total vProcessors # not allowed set to greater than 4. But the logical processors are 4 from the device manager. And strangely the logical processors only showing 2 at task managers. I can set it to 4 before the win10 updates installed which was the only change as i know.

    Wrong CPU Type Reported in Task Manager

    Today I upgraded my CPU, replacing my previous i5 processor with an i7.

    Unfortunately, Task Manager still shows the old CPU type when I launch it and click the "Performance" tab. Third-party apps such as CPU-Z show the correct i7 processor, but Task Manager doesn't. Ditto if I pull up system information in Control Panel; it
    shows the old CPU as well. Device Manager does, too.

    Any ideas?

    Task Manager shows single CPU

    Windows 7 used to show a CPU graph for each processor in Task Manager, but 10 by default shows just one graph for overall CPU utilisation. You can show separate CPU graphs in Task Manager if you wish, right-click on the graph and select Change graph to > Logical processors.

    Task Manager showing Intel Core i5-2500K operating at 5.29GHz??


    Since I skipped Windows 8, I didn't get to use its new task manager.

    But now that I'm on 10, I'm heavily enjoying this AMAZING new task manager.

    However, I just noticed (not sure how I didn't see this before) that Task Manager is showing that my i5-2500K is running at 5.29GHz! I do have it overclocked to 4.2GHz @ ~1.31 volts. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I searched around a bit and I found that some other people have this problem with the i5-2500K and the Task Manager, but nobody really knows what it is.

    Is this just Intel trying to get us to buy their new processors? *Think
