    intel mgt engine components -- avast says "potentially unnecessary program"


    i have avast cleanup premium on my XPS 13, running windows 10. in the cleanup recs, it says that "intel mgt engine components" is a "potentially unnecessary program found," "last used 2 months ago." the avast program suggests putting it in the trash, but when i click on "put in trash" -- which as i understand it just sort of puts it to sleep, but i'm not really sure about that -- a note comes up that says "cannot be put in trash, can only be uninstalled." my other choice is to mark for avast to "ignore" it when cleaning up.i am NOT very tech-savvy and am terrified of doing things to my lapt

    Intel Management Engine


    What is Intel Management Engine Components. I have a Dell Precision Tower 7910 and Laptop Precision 7710. they have the Intel Management Engine Components installed. I am running Win 10. I am not on a corporate network.

    The Intel Management Engine Components also installs Intel Security Assist.

    There is no program to run for these.

    Intel(R) Management Engine Component

    When I ran "smart scan anitvirus" on laptop it said, if I put Management Engine component to sleep, it would help the speed of my pc. My virus app can do it. Will I have any problems if I do this? Will it keep from updating windows or programs?

    Purchased: 2013
