Windows 10: intel onboard iv225 ethernet frequent disconnection issues

i just bought this new board asus z490f but the thing is having frequent disconnection issues. it drops then works fine. event viewer shows many e2fexpress issues as well

I'm experiencing a persistent issue with my Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM onboard adapter. The adapter is displaying a "Code 10" error in the Device Manager, which indicates that the device cannot start. I've exhausted various troubleshooting steps, and I'm seeking assistance from the community to help resolve this issue.

Problem Description:

• Operating System: [Windows 10, version 22H2]
  
• Motherboard: [HP ProDesk 600 G1 TWR]
  
• Network Adapter: Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM
  

Issue Details:

• The onboard adapter was working fine until recently when I encountered the "Code 10" error and there is no internet connection at all.
  
• I've tried updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter in safe mode , checking for BIOS updates, and performing network troubleshooters, but the problem persists.
  
• I've tested the adapter in Safe Mode with Networking, didn't work at all , and of course the "Code 10" error still occurs in normal mode.

Intel I218V onboard Ethernet problem


Hello all.

Straight to the point. Ethernet wired connection stopped working. It was fine last time used, next time started up, no internet connection. Here's a screen dump of the device manager.





Attempted installing up to date driver from Intel. Got this message...





Ahem. People. It is blaming Windows Ten. *Eek

Now, I can easily do a clear CMOS and all sorts of other what not, but I am the kind of guy who's going to ask a Win 10 community first, if Intel points the finger at the OS. Apparently, it is NOT a fired Ethernet controller, or the likes. Possibly one of those silent updates from MS changed something?

You tell me. Help, please?

I want to update/flash the firmware of my onboard ethernet adapter (Intel I218-V on an ASUS Maximus Ranger VII board). Intel has a tool bootutil that can be used for this purpose, but the documentation is very sparse.
