Windows 10: Intel XEON 10 core processor on W10 PRO

Hi guys
anyway to get Windows PRO to use all 10 cores on XEON i3-3240 2.6 ghz processor

Linux box FLIES with this processor -- can't get anything like same improvement on W10 (Native not VM).

My Windows VM simply performs a zillion times better than when running W10 Pro as a host with this processor (Linux Host using all 10 cores). !!! First time I've got a Windows VM to far outperform same OS running as Host!!!

I think Windows on a physical HOST is only using 2 of the 10 cores.


Any ideas folks or will Windows 10 Workstation upgrade work.

From what I can gather here from the (logical core?) count the processor(s) that you are using would be this, is this correct?

Or are they one of the other two 2670 possibilities shown here?

However, as far as I can tell, all this really means is that they are just not testing anything prior to the Ivy Bridge-based processors.

If you haven't already, check your BIOS and storage controller settings.

Have you been able to pinpoint anything using the Sysinternals tools?



For what it's worth, I'm using a single Xeon W3550 in a 2011 built Dell Precision T3500 with 12Gb RAM running Windows 10 Pro x64 on a HDD and have had no problems at all, in fact it's very fast indeed.

(The processor mostly just gets bored, even though I do a lot of image and video creation, editing, and rendering.)

Blue Screen Error

Minidump folder is empty. I updated two drivers then restarted. Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core processor PCI Express x16 Controller -0C01 and Intel H82 LPC Controller - 8C5C
