    Interesting Aspect to Win10 updates

My wife has a Toshiba Satellite Notebook about 2 years old. She has been getting a message about a failed update and I found it was for an Elan Input Device and the update for it would never complete, about 6 times. The solution was quite simple once I got it figured out what the device is. She turns off the Touchpad when typing or her thumbs cause errors. I simply turned the Touchpad [device] back on and the update installed in about 5 minutes. Moral: make sure the onboard/built-in devices are available.

Windows 10 Full Screen Aspect Ratio 4:3 problem

Well, this is interesting. When this thread was started on '15 Win10 had taken control of screen scaling and

the options in the display drivers Control Panel was no longer effective, and it was not possible to run games

that used a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution in full wide screen.

Looks like MS finally heard the cries of the gamers who play these old game wide screen and
    returned

the option for screen scaling to the gpu again with the 1703 update.

Will wonders never cease. Does this mean that MS is actually listening to the complaints from gamers ?

[ EDIT: Nov '17 - Update 1709 and screen scaling is still back to how it was on Win7 and earlier - Controlled by the graphics driver, not Windows.

Screen scaling options are in your graphics processors Control Panel as they used to be prior to earlier versions of Win10.

    - What this means now, is people who want their old games to run in their
native 4:3 aspect ratio have to select the correct

setting in their graphics processors Control Panel, as it is no longer forced automatically by Win10 ]

Which aspect of 'Livesight' are you interested in? eg 'Freeze Frame' is in City Lens (here in UK anyway).

I have an ELAN device as well and I had enabled the "ignore unintended touches" option as well. For me the update installed.

BUT, afterwards, the driver options had been reset to factory defaults: That "unintended touches" option had again been switched off and also other options, which I had set, had been reset. I had to change them again manually.

Ah, yea, I remember something I had in the past was like that, if it's not available for whatever reason, the software/update won't install, because to the system, it's not physically there.
