  1. Intermittent keys/keyboard lag

I am experiencing a problem with my laptop keyboard. After a while of the computer being turned on, often after I have left the computer in sleep mode for a while, the keyboard starts lagging. If I type at normal speed it only registers approximately a third of the keys pressed. For example, if I now try to write “my keyboard isn’t working” in normal speed, it comes out like this: my kyboard is'twring. If i write at a VERY slow speed, it works. This time, the problem occurred like this: I was starting my laptop for the first time in the morning and the low battery warning popped on the start sc

    Keyboard intermittently lagging

    Hi Quentin,

My name is Umar. I'm an Independent Advisor, and I will be happy to help you today.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to you. The intermittent keyboard lag you're experiencing can be frustrating, and it's good that you've already tried some troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional things you can try to pinpoint the issue:

You can try using the on-screen keyboard (Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > Turn On On-Screen Keyboard). If the lag persists with the on-screen keyboard, it suggests a software issue with Windows or a background process. On the other hand, if the lag disappears, it leans towards a hardware problem with your physical keyboards.

Also, restart your computer to Safe Mode. This mode loads Windows with minimal drivers and programs. If the lag is absent in Safe Mode, it strengthens the case for a software conflict.

    Also check power Management:

Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Right-click each USB Root Hub, select Properties, and under the Power Management tab, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards,

Since the keyboard lag disappears in Safe Mode, it indicates a software conflict. Here are systematic steps you can take to pinpoint and resolve the issue:

    Perform a clean Boot:

A Clean Boot disables all non-essential startup programs and services, while Safe Mode also disables most device drivers.

For specific instructions on the items listed above, kindly check the link below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/topic/da2f9573-6e...

If the lag disappears in Clean Boot but reappears in a normal startup, a program or service loaded at startup is causing the conflict.

Note: Your computer might temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment. Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting and resume functionality.

    Also, Check for driver conflicts:

Open the Device Manager (right-click the Start menu and select "Device Manager").

Expand the "Keyboards" section and check if there are any yellow exclamation marks or error messages.

Try updating the keyboard driver or rolling it back to a previous version.

    Regards

    Umar

Keyboard input lag (Logitech K270 wireless keyboard, Windows 10 20H2)

Hi there. I've got yet another Windows 10 problem. lol

This time it's my keyboard. I'm using a Logitech K270 wireless keyboard, on Windows 10 Pro 20H2. I have been experiencing keyboard input lag off and on for a couple months now, and I've searched for possible solutions, but none so far have worked. I was hoping you guys could suggest some fixes.

Here's what I've tried, based on the suggestions I've found on the web:
    • Updating the keyboard/dongle's drivers (there are no drivers on Logitechs's site, oddly) and firmware. Nope.
    • Swapping USB ports. Nada.
    • Unplugging any extraneous USB devices. Zilch.
    • Checking the batteries. No joy.

As I was typing this it was lagging here and there. It's a bit disconcerting. Anyway... I don't think I missed anything, but if you need more information or diagnostics, lemme know and I'll upload 'em.
