  1. Intermittent lag, system goes into overdrive catch up afterwards

    First, specs:

    • i7 8700k overclocked to 4.6ghz
    • RTX 2070
    • Asrock Z370 Taichi
    • Samsung 850 boot drive, smattering of other ssds and hdds used for games and media.

This started happened about 2 months ago and has been driving me pretty nuts. I'll get this lag where mouse (sometimes, sometimes it also lags out), video, and sound all work, but all input is seemingly slowed down to a crawl. If I'm in a game, the game will react very slowly but still runs at a 60FPS. If I'm typing, typing just stops. The strange thing is, after the lag passes, everything I typed during the lag immediately goes into overdrive and appears on screen at 1000WPM. Things I've tried:

    • Updating all drivers
    • Clean installing graphics drivers
    • Updating bios
    • Killed f.lux, malwarebytes, and disabled windows defender.
    • Removing overclocks on both GPU and CPU
    • Scanning for malware (none found)
    • Closing almost every misc program I don't actively need
    • Closing pretty much everything
    • Disabling fast start
    • All windows updates installed

It just doesn't go away. Things I've noticed:

    • Nothing in event viewer
    • No random spikes in disk activity, memory, cpu, network, etc. The only spikes that happen are a result of everything "catching up".
    • Kind of regular, 3-4 minutes between lag when it gets bad, sometimes can go 10 minutes between.
    • Seems to get worse as the day goes on
    • Resets windows explorer scroll location. If I'm scrolled half way down a folder, it'll just reset me to the top of the folder when it lags.

    Random lag spikes

    Hi,

We would like to know more about your lag issue:

    • What browser are you using when you experience a lag?
    • Does the lag occur in a particular game?

In the meantime, we suggest you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. Here are the steps:

    • Press Windows Key + X.
    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • On the left pane, click on View All.
    • Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.

    Looking forward to your response.

    High System Resource Use (Intermittent)

My disk usage goes from 0% to 100% randomly and intermittently according to the Resource Monitor from Advanced System Care. I have tried every strategy suggested from a Google search but with no luck. Would anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve
    this issue? Thanks in advance.

    zune radio interrupts overdrive media

    Greetings Nancy3947:

Thanks for posting to the board! I understand we're having an issue with Zune radio turning on while using Overdrive Media.

Since the Zune radio is a built in application to the phone, it can not be uninstalled. I also did some testing and was unable to find a way to permanently turn it off.

However, if this is only happening with one application, this Overdrive Media, it may be something that is going on with the Overdrive Media application itself. Can you please confirm for me that this does not happen with any other application?

I do have some other suggestions for you to try in case Overdrive Media is encountering a one-time problem:

    • Navigate to Applications > Settings > Applications > Internet Explorer. Once here, tap Delete History. You can also open Internet Explorer from your start page, go to the ... and then go to Options/Settings and do it there.
    • Please shut down your phone entirely by holding down the power button and then sliding the screen to power off when it comes up.
If the issue still happens and this is only happening with the Overdrive Media, then consider uninstalling and reinstalling the application. This can be done by going to Settings > Applications. You can tap and hold on Overdrive Media and uninstall it, then
    reinstall it from the marketplace.

    Best regards,

    Iris.
