The cursor moves at ~1 frame per second, failing to move smoothly even with rapid mouse movement, the slow movement is equal. The delay persists after releasing the window, rendering the system temporarily unusable for precise tasks. A full restart is required to resolve the issue temporarily read the end. USB Wireless Mouse Pointer Lags, Stalls, Resists Moving to Some Objects - Windows 11

My Logitech USB wireless M510 Mouse is part of a combo with a K545 keyboard. It is a few years old now, but has functioned reliably until around last winter. The keyboard continues to work as expected.

Beginning last winter, the mouse pointer began stalling and lagging when the mouse is moved. It happens in all web browsers, on the Windows 11 desktop, and when moving around in Explorer folders as examples. It happens when just moving a folder or icon on the desktop. It also happens when trying to touch an icon in the taskbar. It's worse when the mouse is moved slowly. On occasion the pointer seems to resist being positioned on an object on the screen, including folders and icons. The problem will last for a few days, and then oddly disappear on its own. Then the mouse and pointer will function reliably again for a few months. Starting today, the problem is apparent again.

I have searched the web for causes and solutions and taken some recommended actions. At the moment "enhance pointer precision" is off. "allow USB power off to save energy" is disabled. Changing pointer speed and computer shut down/restart do not help. Since the problem is intermittent, I have not taken the step of re-installing drivers. I have had bad experiences doing that in the past. As of last Tuesday, Windows updates are current.

Although I expect this to eventually go away on its own, when it's happening, using the computer is absolutely miserable. Any idea what's going on, and how to fix it permanently?
