  1. Intermittent Wi-Fi Disconnection Issue on Windows Laptops Despite Strong Signal Strength

Dear Respected Concerns,Most users experience frequent Wi-Fi disconnections and reconnections, causing significant problems, even though the signal strength shows as 'Excellent.' Furthermore, the users facing this issue are connected to the same access point AP as other users, but only a few random users, who are using Windows laptops, experience this problem. These users have Windows 10 or 11 installed with activated licenses.Currently, whenever a user encounters this issue, we have to update or reinstall their Wi-Fi driver, which resolves the problem for some users, but not for everyone. My Win11 laptop keeps disconnecting from the Wi-Fi intermittently.

I got an Acer Aspire 7 laptop recently that uses Windows 11, and the Wi-Fi disconnects (where it can't get a signal and I can't use the internet but still says it's connected with full strength), it's usually fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting to WiFi, but this is extremely tedious where this happens every hour or two hours, sometimes more frequently.

    Things I've already tried:

    • Using the troubleshooter before and during the problem, it has not fixed anything.
    • Uninstalling the WiFi adaptor and updating the drivers.
    • Resetting network settings.
    • Restarting the router.
Any tips would be appreciated, I have only recently started using Windows 11 so I am not entirely used to troubleshooting etc. yet.

problem in checking signal strength of wifi

    Hi Nitin kishan Sharma,

Being able to see your Wi-Fi signal strength from the home screen sounds like a pretty useful function. I would encourage you to make a feature request directly to the Windows Phone Development Team at

    http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions
. Many features requested here have been added in the past and if you suggest the Wi-Fi signal strength to show on the icon it may be added to future OS releases.

    Regards,

Wi-Fi is disconnected by the driver!?!!

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Based on the detailed information you've provided, it appears that your Wi-Fi connectivity issue, particularly with the Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz adapter, involves sporadic disconnections and failures to connect to an open network at your local coffee shop. The issue seems to have been temporarily resolved by waiting and retrying the connection, suggesting it might not be a persistent hardware or driver issue but rather a problem related to the network environment or the adapter's interaction with it at that moment. Here are some steps and considerations to help you address and potentially mitigate this issue:

    Network Environment Factors

    • Router Overload: Open networks, especially in busy places like coffee shops, can experience high traffic, leading to temporary disconnections or connection failures for some devices.
    • Interference: Wi-Fi signals can be affected by physical obstructions and interference from other wireless devices. The quality of the connection can vary depending on your proximity to the router and the level of interference.
    Wi-Fi Adapter Settings

    • Power Management: Ensure that the power management settings for the Wi-Fi adapter do not allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. You can check this in the Device Manager under the "Power Management" tab for your Wi-Fi adapter.
    • Driver Update: Although your driver version is relatively recent (22.240.0.6 from June 18, 2023), it's wise to check the manufacturer's website or use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to ensure there are no newer drivers that could improve stability or compatibility.
    Wi-Fi Profile Corruption

    • Sometimes, the profile saved for a particular network can become corrupted, leading to connection issues. Try forgetting the network (Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks) and then reconnecting, which will create a new profile.
    Router Issues

    • Since the issue seems to be intermittent and related to a specific network, it's possible that the router itself is occasionally failing to respond properly to connection attempts. Unfortunately, this is outside your control, but restarting the router can often resolve such issues. You might want to mention this to the coffee shop staff if the problem persists.
    System Network Troubleshooter

    • Running Windows' built-in network troubleshooter can sometimes identify and resolve connectivity issues automatically. You can access this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Internet Connections.
    Consider an External Wi-Fi Adapter

    • If the issue persists and significantly affects your productivity, consider using an external USB Wi-Fi adapter as a workaround. These devices can offer an alternative means to connect to Wi-Fi networks and may bypass the issues you're experiencing with the built-in adapter.
Given the sporadic nature of the problem and its resolution upon waiting and retrying, it's likely an issue that can be mitigated through adjustments to settings, awareness of environmental factors, and keeping your system's drivers and OS up to date. However, if the problem becomes more frequent or severe, it may warrant further investigation into potential.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Best regards
