Windows 10: Intermittent Windows boot failure after update 2004

Hello all, hope someone can help me!?


Since Windows update 2004 I have been experiencing boot failures on startup. My bios splash screen loads then the computer finds the boot drive, Windows begin loading with the circle of dots loading and then suddenly the screen goes dark and the led on my screen blinks as if in sleep mode. It seems like the boot completely fails and the computer without loading just sits there. I have to hard restart the computer and it then thinks an overclock fails and puts me back into the bios. I am then able to load Windows from the bios. This has only started happening after the installation of Windows update 2004 - I installed at a point that Microsoft had deemed my computer compatible and safe to update. Foolish me initially deleted the old Windows installation via disk cleanup because the computer seemed stable after the initial update. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue? Should I reinstall Windows or is there a known bug within 2004 that has caused this? I have heard that boot failures have come from 2004.

Windows 8 failure configuring updates and reverting

I agree 8 is awful! It's not for me though... I replaced a broken screen in a Win 8 laptop that was given to me and I am going to give it for free to someone that can't afford one so they can do homework at home. Yes I took it from 8 to 8.1 back on 10/09/2014. This is what I posted there...

1. Step 1 should read to disable AUTOMATIC updates, not disable manual updates.

2. KB2871398 should really read KB2871389

I would like to say that KB2917499 may also be needed as it was in my case. I also had to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter after installing those 2 updates. After these steps I was able to begin my 8.1 download from the Microsoft store. I don't know if it made a difference or not, but I also went into the Bios and disabled "Secure Boot."

Confusing Disk Boot Failure

Well, Brand new Harddrive the western digital se16 caviar 640. Had a clean install, and while installing drivers and programs after a couple restarts I am receiving disk boot failure. Not the first restart or the second. Each time that it has given me the failure was after installing updates. I've system restored to before installing the updates and it works fine. It's a large list of around 38 or so updates. Granted may be a fluke but anyone heard of this?
