Windows 10: Internal drive becomes RAW format and new USB drives not being recognised

Hi, Hope someone can help please. Just over a week ago, I was doing another drive backup with EaseUS backup software. This is simply a backup of my internal E drive data to a large USB drive. I had not done a backup for sometime, and wanted to do one now as Windows updates were failing to install so I wanted to investigate why The E drive has a lot of data on it, the file that is created on the USB is around 2 TB. This takes several hours normally, but this time it appeared to hang towards the end and did not complete. I cancelled the task in EaseUS and thought I would try again the ne

Can't format USB 32GB drive in NTFS format

Having read several threads of how to Format a USB drive into NTFS format.

I have 32GB stick and tried several methods to do this without success.

Tried

• changing the properties of the 'policy' of the drive in device manager
• changing to 'default allocation unit size' in formatting
• changing from 'quick format'
• running as Admin with CMD Prompt and with ('drive letter': /fs:ntfs) this says cannot format a raw drive ??

Yet no problems in formatting as Fat32.

Any other tips

 

USB drive - want to be formatted

I have a friend's usb that is suddenly asking to format. He wants me to recover if I can the info from the USB. Any suggestions how to go about this?

How to Fix "USB Drive Not Formatted” Error?

Trying the CMD tells me it is RAW and cannot do a chkdsk.
Device manager says the drive is there.

 

Save RAW drive - Don't want data


Open Admin command prompt, then type:

1. diskpart
2. list disk ======> Take note of disk # of the RAW drive
3. select disk # ======> is the number in step 2
4. clean
5. exit

Open Disk Management and initialize it, Create Simple, format.
