Windows 10: Internal HDD not recognized upon waking from sleep

I have an internal HDD that is not recognized when Windows 10 upon waking from sleep. This is a 2TB HDD that came with the system (a Dell XPS 8900) that I have since made into a data drive—all my programs and OS are on another drive.

I'm running the anniversary update on Windows 10 Pro. The HDD is connected via SATA. It shares a power connection to the power supply with the primary (SSD) drive.
Any ideas how to fix?

When waking computer after sleep the C: drive wakes and runs programs but internal HDD D: data is not recognised and remains asleep unless complete computer re-start/reboot.

 

Win 10 pro loses the second HDD after waking from sleeping

Thx, but it still doesn't work. I mean if I do not go to sleep mode, everything is ok, the first SSD and second HDD works normally, but when I go the sleep mode and wake the computer, the second HDD disappeaers. When I bought this computer, it only had
a first SSD. What I changed recently is only to removed the optical driver and replaced it with a second HDD. I highly suspect win 10 has a bug that the second HDD will not be waked when the computer wakes from sleeping mode.

 

I have exactly the same problem. My OS is on a SSD drive, data etc on a 2TB Seagate drive. After upgrading to the Anniversary update, the 2TB is often not recognised after waking from sleep. It's not there in Disk Management either. This is intermittent - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. On those occasions I can usually hear the disk spinning up when I wake the computer from sleep, but then it stops (but the HDD activity light remains on). Rebooting fixes it. I've tried swapping SATA slots, upgrading BIOS and motherboard drivers. I've run various SeaTools tests but no errors show. Would be grateful for any ideas!

 

Open an admin command box and enter the following commands:

diskpart
automount enable
exit

Restart and see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks for that - but I'm afraid it didn't work. However, I think I have traced the problem to the Samsung Magician software that was running on my computer. Here's what happened...

I was going to turn off my computer the other week, but had to cancel the power-down process half-way through when I remembered something I had to do. Now, during the shut-down process, a number of background programs had been closed down, and I didn't have the disappearing drive problem any more. However, next time I rebooted the computer, and all the background programs were running, the problem returned. I narrowed it down to either Samsung Magician or the Logitech Webcam software, and my latest testing suggests that it is Samsung Magician causing the problems (for me at least).
