Windows 10: Internal OS drive to be used as external usb drive

Hi,I have a SER 5 Max mini Pc from Beelink. It came with windows 11 pro. It has 32gb ram and 1 TB Nvme M2 ssd on which all my softwares and windows is installed, and of course it is my internal bootable drive.Now I have taken this drive out and used the Nvme M2 slot for an external Gpu, so what I want to do is to use my Nvme M2 drive to be used externally as a USB drive to run the OS and softwares.I have put my drive in an external Nvme enclosure and I have set the boot device to USB in the Pc bios. But whenver I boot from the drive It starts automatic repair and system diagnostic message and

External drives using true Sata connection?

While I did not choose the route of using an external case+usb drive, I appreciate the responses as I now understand what to look for if I need a cheaper alternative to making use of an old internal drive.

Related to this query was my decision between external drives and a NAS box.

Internal Drive+Enclosure or External Drive

Hi, I'm not very familiar with storage solutions so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm looking to buy a 1TB+ drive for backup. External drives seem like more elegant solutions but when I looked on Newegg many reviews seem to suggest that they are not long lived (e.g. break within weeks/months). Is this true? If so, are internal drives + enclosures better? Or do any of you have better solutions that I don't know about (like I said I'm not that familiar with the storage department). Thanks.

step 1: try with a different USB cable

step 2: take the drive out of the enclosure and connect it internally to your PC

quite likely the cable or enclosure has died. if you're re-initialising the disk you might actually be erasing it... so dont do that.
