  1. internal webcam problem after windows update

My laptop webcam quit working after a windows update. Not sure which one but probably in the last 2 or 3 weeks. I don't use the webcam often so didn't notice exactly when this happened. It was working fine and then the next time I tried to use it it wasn't there. Not in device manager at all. Not there for camera or zoom.

I reset camera app and followed trouble shooting steps but no change. I Finally I found and applied the registry fix: adding a REG_DWORD EnableFrameServerMode with data 0 to both:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

After rebooting, device manager saw the front camera and the camera app showed the switch camera button. When I tried to switch camers the camera display flickered briefly before giving me the error message

0xA00F4271<MediaCaptureFailedEvent> 0XC00D3E85. I couldn't get any further until another reboot, then the front camera reappeared in device manager. I have tried updating both camera drivers but got the message both are up to date. Zoom does not show the front camera, the camera app did at first but before I could switch to the front camea the option disappeared. I checked device manager and the front camera was no longer listed.

I haven't been able to find anything else to try. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

  2. Internal webcam not working ASUS UX430UA Laptop

    Hey guys,

So I'm having an issue with my internal webcam on my laptop (Asus UX430UA). Basically whenever I use the windows camera app, skype or any other video service it just shows a black screen, also a white led turns on next to the webcam when using the apps possibly indicating the webcam is on? I tried googling and looking at other forums for months now and seems like no one has a straight answer and/or fix. I tried uninstalling the webcam driver " USB2.0 HD UVC WebCam" and reinstalling and that didn't work, tried looking for an updated driver via Asus driver downloads and there isn't one listed for my model and also made sure all Windows 10 privacy settings are not blocking the webcam from working and that still didn't work. Hopefully someone has a suggestion that I haven't tried yet, here are the details of the driver; Version: 10.0.18362.693, Date: 6/21/2006.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Windows 10 webcam problem

The drivers for the Imaging devices, which include the webcam, are not displayed in the Device Manager. To resolve this problem, use the following steps:

    Restart your computer.

If the problem persists, continue using these steps.

In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

If there is no Imaging devices category listed, select Action, then Scan for hardware changes.

Figure : Scan for hardware changes

    Image: Scan for hardware changes

If Device Manager does not recognize the webcam after the scan, use Microsoft System Restore to go back to a time when the webcam was working properly.

If problems persist, the webcam might have become unplugged internally, and the computer might require service to correct the issue.

    or

In Windows, search for and open Recovery Manager.

Select Reinstall drivers and/or applications, and then click Next when prompted.

Figure : Reinstall drivers and/or applications

    Image: Reinstall drivers and/or applications

Select the appropriate Software program (such as Cyberlink YouCam or MediaSmart Webcam), and select Install.

Figure : List of drivers to reinstall

Image: List of drivers to reinstall

If prompted, click Next to first uninstall the selected program.

The program uninstalls, and then reinstalls.

  4. internal webcam problem after windows update

    Webcam Problems?

Step One - go back to your computer mfgr's support site, register, and download the latest drivers and chipset software. When I visited Dell I found 9 as of yet uninstalled updates for my two yr old laptop!

Visit Adobe and check which version of Flash Player you're running, and D/L the latest version.

You should be good to go. Your webcam's controlled by your web browser but also authorized and either blocked or allowed by the identity software of sites you visit. Here's Coursera's instructions for fixing identity verification problems:

If you're having trouble with your webcam:

    1. Check that your webcam is enabled and connected to your computer. Try a third-party tool like testwebcam.com -&nbsptestwebcam Resources and Information..
    2. Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
    3. Check that you have the latest version of your browser or try using a different browser.
    4. If you’re using an external webcam, verify that you've installed your webcam's most recent driver software from the manufacturer.
    5. Try refreshing the page.
    6. Try switching to HTML5 webcam access by clicking the Switch to HTML5 link in the lower right hand corner of the webcam window.
If you see a dialogue box entitled Adobe Flash Player Settings:

    1. Click Close
    2. Click Allow
If the webcam area is blank:

    1. Right click on webcam area
    2. Select Settings
    3. In the Settings menu, click the webcam icon and change the camera option to match the webcam you are using
Note to Google Chrome users: If the webcam area on the page is blank, and you can't access the Flash settings menu, click the small camera icon to the right of your browser bar and select "Always allow Coursera - Free Online Courses From Top Universities to access your camera and microphone."
To allow Flash access manually (in Google Chrome):

    1. Type chrome://plugins into your browser bar
    2. Find the Adobe Flash Player plugin
    3. Check Always allowed
    4. Quit Chrome and restart
