Windows 10: Internet connection between PC and Laptop

Is there a way to make a Intenet connection From my Laptopwindows 10 to my PCwindows 7 by a internet cableThat yellow cable?

Connecting Laptop to the Internet, No connection

Trying to connect to the Internet using my Laptop. (not via the wireless router, but through the Ethernet cable)

My existing PC is connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable, which is connected to the Broadband Modem (Virgin).

What I have tried to do, is take the Ethernet cable from my PC and connect it to the Laptop... Unfortunately, the Laptop isnt connecting to the Internet...

I have tried repairing the Network, with no success.

I am using the same cable, which was connected to the PC...

I do get error messages, when I click on repair in the Network Connection Tab. Its says it cannot assign an IP address.

I am Using Windows XP Home Edition.

I've tried using the Ping via cmd ping localhost or 127.0.0.1

I get the following results -

Packets: Sent = 4, Recieved = 4, Lost = 0(0%0)

Also done the following -

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Connections tab.
4. Under Dial-up and VPN Settings, click the broadband connection, click Settings, and then click Automatically detect settings.
5. Click OK.


..... with no luck

What do I do guys?

Operating systems on each computer?

If the desktop has two ethernet connections, you can set it up so that one has the modem (internet) and the other is connected to the laptop (cable from desktop to laptop).

If you want wireless, you will need a router unless you have a wireless connection and ethernet connection on the desktop, in which case you can do the same above, only instead of cable from pc to laptop, its wireless connection from pc to laptop.

 

Laptop Internet to PC

I am having trouble configuring ICS(Internet Connection Sharing) through my laptop to PC. I am using a crossover cable. I went to:
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

Right-Clicked my Wireless Network Connection/Properties/TCP(IPv4) and manually entered the IPv4 192.168.1.105
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.1.254

Then I went to my PC and did the same, I still do not get internet connection from the PC.

After I do this, I get a little window that pops up saying:
Warning-Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network (such as intranet or internet). They will not function when the gateways are on two seperate disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and one on your Internet). Do you want to save this configuration?

I click Yes.

After that I don't get connection from my laptop.
