Windows 10: Internet Connection Sharing no Longer Working

For my remote job am I required to have a phone that uses VoIP. Since my router is two floors below my office I have been using internet connection sharing. Wifi to my desktop, and then ethernet to the phone. I have used this setup since the start of the pandemic with zero issues. As of Friday 6/17 I am still able to share internet to my phone and make calls but whenever the phone is connected the internet on my PC dies out. It says I'm connected to the internet but I cannot acess any websites or connect via apps. I have tried updating both windows and drivers, reinstalling the drivers and pla

Is it possible to share internet connection via remote desktop?

RDP is not capable of Internet sharing, so you can't share Internet using RDP with standard applications. There are many way to share Internet from a Windows box to another one. I suggest you to use VPN. You should do following steps:

1. Run VPN Server on your server with unlimited internet access
   
2. Connect to VPN server from your limited computer

This issue might occur due to some corruption in the drivers or the required service is not running.



I suggest you to check if Internet Connection Sharing services is started and
startup type set to automatic.

To check Internet Connection Sharing services is started please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc
• A new window will pop up.
• Find Internet Connection Sharing.
• Right click and go to properties.
• Change Startup type to automatic.
• Under Service status click start if it shows
  Stopped.

Also try to update the network drivers and see if it helps.

Step-1. Disable wi-fi adapter.

Step-2. Enable it again.

Step-3. Create wi-fi hot spot again.

Step-4. Now share network connection from where internet is connected to wi-fi hotspot adapter.
