    internet connection slower on windows 10 compare to Ubuntu


    Hi,

    since i started to work from home, i noticed a strange internet slowness on windows 10.

    I have a fresh installation of windows 10 on my PC and a Ubuntu as a dual boot. When i do a speed test on windows 10 i get a :

    400 download 400 upload

    But when i do the same test on Ubuntu, i get twice the speed:

    800 download 400 upload


    I have been installing the latest firmware on my windows but it makes no difference.


    This is my configuration:
    motherboard : gigabyte H87N-WIFI

    cpu : i7-4790

    BIOS version 2.7

    OS : windows 10 pro N

    router : asus gt-ac5300 cat7 Ethernet wires

    also please note i plugged both Ethernet ports to my PC

    Try the following steps:

    I would suggest you to run Internet Connectivity troubleshooter:





    Try the following steps:


    • Click "Search" and type "Troubleshooting" without quotes and hit enter.

    • Click “View All”

    • Select "Internet Explorer connection"

    • Click next to run the troubleshooter.

    Upgrading to Windows 10 from windows 7 and losing internet connection

    A couple of days ago I upgraded my desktop to windows 10 after getting one of those MS prompts. However now I cannot access the internet and suspect the drivers from the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-ud4 motherboard does not support the internet drivers required. Searching the manufacturers website has not given me any joy either. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

    Did you run the Windows 10 connection troubleshooter?

    Troubleshoot Internet connection problems

    Also, check in the "Device Manager" to see if the network adapter is ok.
    You may need to un-install it and then "Scan for new devices".

    This is published by HP; however, it gives some good info on troubleshooting with the device manager.
