  1. Internet connection turns off every day

Every day my internet stops working for Internet explorer and Chrome. Firefox works fine because I have it set to auto-detect settings.

To fix this, I have to first click win+R, and then type "regedit" and open. Then go here - Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel - and open the "Connection Settings" file. Then change the "Value Data" to 0 and click ok.

I do the above in order to be able to access "Lan Settings" in Internet Options, because otherwise Lan Settings is grayed out and can't be clicked.

Then I right-click on Internet Explorer and Run as Administrator. Then I click the wheel in the right, select Internet Options, navigate to Connections, click on Lan Settings, tick the Automatically Detect Settings option, and click ok.

Now internet works again. Do I have to continue to do this every day? Can't I do it and have it stick. Can my internet stay connected and work between lap top restarts and shut downs please?

p.s it seems to me that Internet Explorer and Chrome pull their connectivity settings from Internet Options, so they stop working because Windows 10 is a piece of crap. But Firefox being my best loving browser has its own connectivity situation going on, so it circumvents Windows Interent Options, therefore it works flawlessly.

But, Microsoft is not exactly Mozilla. So I can't expect Microsoft to do it well. So I must find some magical way to fix this so annoying problem. Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    :)

I am unable to download windows 10 update for last one week. How do I stop downloads?

The internet connect is not stable. So every day I am downloading around more than 5GB data and the Update reaches 99%. It never displays a message that my updates are successful. How do I turn off this?

Sounds to me that you messed something up while playing around in the registry.

  6. I didn't play with the registry bro67. I just changed that one thing the first time I ran into this problem. I found a forum thread somewhere where someone had the same problem, and they gave the solution, and it worked. But now I always have to go through these steps to get IE and Chrome back online (after any restart), and I shouldn't have to do that.

  7. Yeah I don't think that helps me. I'm having a specific problem, and this is all general info.

My problem is that even after I change it, it automatically returns after a restart from automatically detect settings to use a proxy server

    I don't know. It's weird.

  9. I have no antivirus. I've been running this way for over 5 years at least.

I use the lap top, when it gets too buggy I format (I do that once or twice a year). I'm pretty computer-savvy, so I pretty much know what to do and what not to do.

So I don't have any antivirus, and the windows 10 defender whatever is disabled as much as I can disable it. Now someone's gonna say it must be my lack of anti virus, and that I have a virus. I doubt it. It's a recent fresh install of Windows 10 on a brand new lap top. This has been happening pretty much from the beginning since I installed Windows 10. It just wasn't much of an issue because I mostly use Firefox. But now that things have settled down and I've needed Chrome a few times, it's become annoying to have to go into registry and internet explorer in order to change lan settings every time.

There must be a way to force it to stay how I want it to stay.

  12. After I get into regedit and change the setting, then I can get in Lan Settings, and this is what I see:

Internet connection turns off every day [IMG]

    So it doesn't show anything.

Then I click to disable that proxy thing, and tick to enable the Automatically Connect...

    Then I get internet back.

  14. Should I run it when the problem is present, or it doesn't matter.

Because I restarted my lap top, and then problem appeared again, so I did the fix. Should I restart the lap top and then do the collector thing, or it doesn't matter?

The DM log collector can be run at any time.
It will automatically collect the logs to the desktop.
Give it time to completely load.
Then zip it and post the zip into the thread for debugging.
