Windows 10: internet disconnects from everything but game and discord

So Yesterday and earlier today I had a weird connection issue. I was playing an online game and was on discord with friends when my browser, game client, and various other applications or windows stopped being connected to the internet. my game kept working fine and my friends on discord still hear me. after the game was done I tried to reconnect to the client and was still not connected. I tried opening steam and other launchers that require internet and all said I was disconnected. browsers also tried different ones and still no luck but I could still talk to people on discord. Internet disconnecting without actually disconnecting

My internet has been disconnecting without actually saying that it is disconnected from the router lately, and it has been quite the hassle. For example, if I am in a discord call, it will disconnect me from the call and when I check to see if I am still
connected to the internet, I am. This will happen with everything, not just discord, it will disconnect from every game, the web, etc. To add on, this is not a problem with my router because when I play on my PS4, this problem does not occur. Wondering if
anyone can help! Thanks!

 

Internet disconnects frequently while playing steam games

Yes, I can confirm that both the computer which I am starting the game on, and another computer, gets a Ping Timeout.

What happens is, i start the game. As soon as i do anything that interferes with the internet (e.g. loading up the Servers list to join a game, or sometimes i even get into the game, but gets disconnected too quick for me to start playing)

 

Internet problem with discord.

I would use discord voice chat for a couple of hours and it would drop my internet completely, I would have to troubleshoot it and it would say "The default gateway is unavailable" and it would fix the internet but the same problem would still happen, I
have disabled antiviruses, Updated to the latest drivers and fully uninstalling and re-installing discord still does not work.

By the way I have used discord since 2017 and this is the first time experiencing this.

I have reached out to discord for support, and they told me to run malwarebytes, restart my computer, reset IP, flushdns, and renew the IP... so far everything is back to normal and works as normal.

What I did:

Ran malwarebytes, restarted pc

opened command prompt (Admin)

Typed these commands:

ipconfig /release (this will disconnect you from the internet)

reconnected internet and typed in ipconfig /flushdns

then typed in ipconfig /renew

closed out of command prompt and everything was working.
