Windows 10: Internet goes out for 10 minutes after booting up PC

I use a Windows 10 PC, and am currently at home with my family for quarantine. Whenever I turn on my PC, the internet for the entire house turns off for approximately 10 minutes.


This PC is the only device connected to the router by ethernet; all others are connected only by Wi-Fi. When this happens, the internet symbol in the corner reads "Identifying, Connected", and will occasionally switch to the appropriate "[My WiFi], Connected". However, even when it does read that it's connected to the right WiFi, attempting to do anything that accesses the internet will return it to "Identifying, Connected". Eventually, it "just works".


Attempting to re-boot the router or power-cycle the modem seems to have no effect. The built-in windows troubleshooters have all found "no problems".


I have no idea what could possibly be causing this. What should I do?

My PC takes minutes to get internet access after booting

From several weeks my PC (surface book 2 + windows 10) takes minutes to get internet access after booting, even if it's connected to the wi-fi immediately (the message "no internet access" is shown). After 1 or 2 minutes magically internet appears. It's
frustrating that windows takes 10 second to start but minutes to connect!!! I also tried to change DNS settings using Google's IP....but still not working...

Windows 10 (sometimes) goes to sleep after only 2 minutes of inactivity

Hello Mark,

Your screensaver might be one of the possible reasons why your computer goes to sleep every time the computer is inactive. It is possible that the idle time is set every 2 minutes. Having said that, you can try adjusting the waiting time by following the
steps below and see if it makes any difference:

• Go to Control Panel, click on Appearance and Personalization.
• Select Personalization.
  
• Click on Screen Saver at the bottom right.
• Adjust the waiting time and hit Apply.

If the issue persists, we recommend trying the suggestions posted by Aleksandr 10 in this
thread. Most of the Community users found his suggestions
helpful.

If not, we suggest that you run the Troubleshooter
and check if there's any changes. To run the
Troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• 
  On the search bar, type
  Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Choose
  Network and Internet.
  
• 
  Run
  the following
  Troubleshooter:
  
  • 
    Internet Connections.
    
  • 
    Network Adapter.
    
  • 
    Incoming Connections.
