  1. Internet spikes despite ethernet connection

For the last couple week I've been experiencing lag spikes every 10 seconds. Since then I've tried everything to solve the issue, I've updated all the drivers, I've done a clean restart, I've used all the cmd commands I've found in other answers in this community ip flush or something like that, I've updated windows, but nothing solved the issue. I've also contacted my internet provider to make sure the problem wasn't my router or the infrastructure, which they assured me they aren't. What else could be causing this? I must note that I usually do not use LAN, but a TP-link archer T3U plus ad

    :)

Ethernet connection is spiking, disconnecting and reconnecting

    Hi everyone.

I have a problem with my internet connection. First, I've tried a PCI Wi-Fi card and a repeater and nothing change.

My computer have a problem with the internet connection. When I play games like Counter-Strike, I'm spiking and I have some rollback every 5s. Here's a picture of my internet connection in the task manager:

As you can see, I'm spiking alot. Sometimes, my PC disconnect from the router (even when it's wired).

    What I tried:
    - Recovery
    - Flush DNS
    - Renew IP
    - Uninstall/Install network drivers and adapter
    - Uninstall/Install general drivers

And... nothing worked, except one thing:
Fix network connection issues - Windows Help

It's working for like 30 minutes and then I'm spiking and lagging again. I suppose it's a DNS/IP problem. I need to do it again every time I want to play 30 minutes. Anyone have a idea?

    Thanks!

PS: When I'm browsing on chrome, I don't see the spike effects, only when I play or skype.

Changing internet type on a internet passthrough ethernet connection

    Hi SanJ16,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

You may try the following steps on your laptop and check if it works.

    1. Open ‘Settings’ and choose ‘Network and Internet’.
    2. Click on ‘Ethernet’ and tap ‘Properties’ for the network connection.
    3. Set it to ‘Private’ and turn on ‘Make this PC discoverable’.
    4. Close settings when finished.

    Hope it helps,

    Internet Connectivity Issues

So heres the deal. My brother who is behind the opposite wall of me is having internet issues. The router is here in my room and his internet is plugged into the Linksys E2000 via a wire going from it to an ethernet wall socket going to his room and into his computer.

He has been having iffy internet for the past 2 days. Fixed it yesterday by rebooting now the problem has resurfaced.

    What we have tried:
    • Testing the ethernet cables with a tester. Passed
    • Tested onboard ethernet with known working cable (computer hooked up using my connections in my room) Passed
    • Checked to make sure there was no static IP address in IPv4 settings. Passed
    • Made sure the Network Connection wasnt full on disabled. Passed
    • Swapped the cable leading from the router to the wall outlet in my room. Passed and worked for a few minutes.
With regards to that last bullet point, the computer is no longer getting internet again despite working for a few minutes. Testing the new cable again, tells us that pins 1 and 2 are "open". That is the second cable in a row that the tester is spitting this message out on.

Any ideas guys? Im out of them.
