    Strollin: I understand your suggestion, but that means I'll have to re-install all my sofftware etc. again. This is not an enticing thought at all.

    LCDR: I tried the old activation code I used before - it is the same on you posted.

    I tried the steps listed at the WinAero site. Last one failed because it said the server could not be located. But I did get the Jan 20, 2016 date back. So that's something.

    Time to replace 9 year old HDD and 7 year SSD?

    Pretty much what was suggested above, keep using it and maybe make some backup's every now and then.
    HDD's can go for quite a long time, I have a few that are 17, 20 & 21 years old (not continuous usage of course) and they still run just fine, albeit very slow and the latter two have as much storage as an SD card. *Stick Out Tongue Internet time not working. 20 year approx old machine :p
