    IP Connect to Static IP

I have an A-V device with a static IP address. With my XP-Pro laptop, I can connect fine, but with my new laptop running WIN10Pro, I can't seem to find the right combination of settings to"see" the device. The static IP allows control of the A-V device's app., with the app. showing when it "see's" the app. on the XP machine, but nothing I do let's that same IP address show up on the WIN10 machine. Can anyone suggest some possible fixes ?

    :)

  2. Lumia 535 windows mobile wifi is not connecting.

    Hello,

I guess many of your Wi-Fi problems are resolved by now.

I had the same issue and I resolved it and want to share it. It is the static ip that got "ON" and stopped connecting to Wi-Fi.

To check static ip settings on Windows Phone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and scroll down to find static ip. If static ip is enabled, you phone will not connect to WiFi networks that doesn’t require static ip configurations.

So disable the static ip and your Windows Phone will connect fine with most of the Wi-Fi networks.

If anyone have the same problem, instead of cursing the pone, or windows, try this first...

    regards

  3. Lumia Wifi connectivity problem

First of all restart the internet receiver and WiFi router. If this does not solve the issue, go to the router's configuration and check if its configured on a static ip or is it set to get IP settings automatically. Now if its on static IP, either set
your phone on static IP as well, or set router to get the IP settings automatically. This solved my connectivity issue in Lumia 640 XL

Hi Trulec1. Welcome to the Tenforums @Trulec1

Real long shot but easy to do... have you powered off router, let sit, powered back on. Have you power reset AV device?

Let's start with some basics, information always helps and some member may latch on to something.

What is make model of AV?

    Is AV wired or wireless?

Is Windows 10 wired or wireless?

Can your Windows 10 machine see your XP Pro machine on network within network section of File Explorer?

Can your XP pro machine see your Windows 10 machine?

While I recognize that you are one one network any chance that AV is wireless on one band and the Win 10Pro is wireless on another band? (2.4 vs 5.0Ghz). It should not matter as this is one network by network standards but have seen devices be finicky.

If you disable firewalls on Win 10 machine can you see device in file explorer?

Can you ping device from Windows 10? (open a command window, ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the x's are actual static address)

If Win 10 machine is wireless was it set to private or public network? (can get info in Settings, Network and Internet, WiFi, click on network name)

Sorry for all the questions and no solutions.

    Hi Ken:
    Thanks for the reply. I've answered your questions as best I can;

Hi . Welcome to the Tenforums @
Thank You - looking forward to contributing and learning.

Real long shot but easy to do... have you powered off router, let sit, powered back on. Have you power reset AV device?
Several times, both router and digital audio mixer.

Let's start with some basics, information always helps and some member may latch on to something.

What is make model of AV?
    Behringer X32Rack Digital Audio Mixer

    Is AV wired or wireless?
    Wired.

Is Windows 10 wired or wireless?
Wired or wireless, can be either.

Can your Windows 10 machine see your XP Pro machine on network within network section of File Explorer?
    No. Don't know why.

Can your XP pro machine see your Windows 10 machine?
No, neither of these two can see the other.

While I recognize that you are one one network any chance that AV is wireless on one band and the Win 10Pro is wireless on another band? (2.4 vs 5.0Ghz). It should not matter as this is one network by network standards but have seen devices be finicky.
The hook-up I've used with my XP machine (which has worked well for past 2 years) isn't router finicky, have used different makes and models in multiple systems installed.

If you disable firewalls on Win 10 machine can you see device in file explorer?
I have not tried this yet.

Can you ping device from Windows 10? (open a command window, ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the x's are actual static address)
Have tried. No, it does not respond.

If Win 10 machine is wireless was it set to private or public network? (can get info in Settings, Network and Internet, WiFi, click on network name) Private network.

My feeling is that since connecting to the X32 mixer via my laptop using XP works fine, it is a setting or settings in WIN10 that is not configured correctly. I've tried changing all settings in WIN10 I know how and it still does not allow me to see the X32Rack connect screen. If it will help, I can capture what that looks like and send to you.

I have contacted Behringer tech. support and explained the issue to them, am waiting for response.

Thank You for your help on this,
    Steve /

  6. Great and thank you.

You say your Windows 10 machine can be wired. Lets start there and wire it to router.

I wasn't saying your router was finicky when I asked about bands. Your XP machine is likely using a 2.4Ghz network because of age and I'll bet your AV is as well. I haven't looked it up yet. Lots of new laptops have AC band radios which use the 5.0 band. I've solved Apple Airprint issues getting them on same bands.

If you go wired on the Win 10 machine that eliminates all that.

Since you have been experimenting might I suggest we set the network back to defaults.

Start => Settings => Network & internet => Scroll to bottom of right hand side =>Network Reset

This will cause you to “Forget” your wireless passwords and you may have to reset any VPN or customized communication software if you use.

Then please disable your firewalls. We didn't discuss what AV you are using, if you are using third party when you disable it you also have to ensure that the Windows firewall didn't turn on.

    IP Connect to Static IP

How are you setting the static IP address? I've found my network is more stable when I set the IP address in the router - my router has a section where you can set and reserve IP addresses. The PCs in the network are set to Obtain IP Addresses Automatically to configure with the IP address I set in the router.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my problem. I spent over an hour recently on the phone with one of the senior support tech's at Behringer, maker of the A-V digital audio mixing engine (X32-Rack) and found that there is something specific to setting up wired or wireless IP connection to the device which does not seem to be a problem with my older laptop running XP-Pro. Specifically what that is I have yet to discover but what is really frustrating is in two instances with clients mixers in the field, I can connect with either the XP-Pro or WIN10 machine without having to do anything beyond just ensuring I have their units correct static IP address, but with the unit I have in my lab, it won't connect with either 10 or XP. We did discover I had a bad CAT5 cable running between the mixer and router, changed that and it worked one time. I believe it may be the ASUS wireless router that I have preventing me from connecting to my mixer. How can I get into that router to look at the settings ?
    Thanks again,
    Steve

  10. If you want to talk to it find your subnet address. Type ipconfig into command prompt or run box.

It will be something like 192.168.xx.yy

Key in that address, into your browser address bar, as 192.168.xx.1 where xx is the real number you are using. (I'm assuming you are using 192.168 yours could be different)

The router is usually address 1 in the right most position. So a real life example would be 192.168.0.1

It will say who are you. You are admin

The password I'm a little foggier on. It will either be empty, just hit enter, or admin (all lower case) or password all lower case.

The details will be online, search for your router manual, it will have the default name and password. On the security front your router should not be using the default password.

The default password on my Asus router is "password." If that's not it, you should be able to look it up online in a PDF version of the device manual at the Asus website.
