Windows 10: Is 8gb RAM not enough now?

Hello,I just bought a new laptop with a built-in 8gb RAM and windows 11. Right at the store, I had technicians install 1 more 8gb RAM. I came home happily knowing that I would have a bunch of RAM to spare and have to worry about lack of RAM no more. When I start the laptop for the first time, without any external apps installed, I noticed that the system alone using about 7gb RAM. I was so surprised and wondered: What if I didn't install more RAM? Is the built-in 8gb RAM a miscalculation from manufacturers? And I still have no idea till now.Now with needed apps installed and used, the RAM usa

16GB RAM only 8GB usable on Windows 10 x64

have 16GB of RAM installed on my computer, but only 8GB is usable. I am running Windows 10 x64. I have tried the following steps to fix this issue, but they have not worked:

1. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version.
   
2. I have tried reseating the RAM modules.
   
3. I have tried using different RAM modules.
   
4. I have tried run-MSConfig
   

I am still not able to use all 16GB of RAM. Any suggestions?

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

Do I really need 8gb RAM?

RAM Speed is more important when it comes to APU's. 1600mhz is standard, 1866mhz is a decent step up, most of us ignore 1333mhz. Timings are more important than speed to me. Id rather have CL9 1600mhz than CL11 2400mhz
