  1. Is a Xeon E5630 compatible with Windows 10 pro?

I have a PC which is currently on Windows 7 and it needs upgrading to Windows 10 pro.

Running the Microsoft upgrade tool, it gets to the 2nd restart and then crashed with the error 0xC1900101 0x40021. It then undoes the upgrade and goes back to Windows 7 with no issues.

The PC runs two Xeon E5630 cpu's, 24GB RAM, an Nvidia Quadra K4000 graphics card, motherboard is Asus Z8na-D6

So my question is, does Windows 10 pro support Xeon E5630, and if so what else could be the problem?

    Thanks

    Mark

  2. Windows 10 Pro and Xeon X5680 Compatibility

    Hi Jorge,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

There are reports that Intel Xeon X580 lineup doesn't work well with Windows 10 due to architecture issues.

You may try the steps here.

Windows 10 has a dedicated Windows 10 Pro for workstations edition. It might help in the performance problem.

    Intel Xeon X5650 Compatibility

    Hello,

The Intel Xeon line of processors is targeted at the non-consumer workstation, server, and embedded system markets. As such, while it is possible to install and run Windows 10 consumer editions (such as Home and Pro), you may experience hiccups and compatibility
issues. (Especially since the X5650 is based on an old architecture Westmere-EP)

Additionally, going from AMD A8 7600 to Intel Xeon X5650 will also require you to get a new motherboard. (From Socket FM2+ to LGA 1366). The safest option is to upgrade to a new platform such as
Coffee Lake from Intel or Zen from AMD.

Is a Xeon E5630 compatible with Windows 10 pro?

    Intel Xeon X5650 Compatibility

Hi there. I was wondering what Windows 10 version would support the Intel Xeon X5650. I was not able to find any articles that was talking about the compatibility for its OS; Soo I was wondering that if the processor is supported on Windows 10 home or pro?

Second question: Im upgrading from an AMD A8 7600 to a Intel Xeon X5650 or should i stay with the AMD A8 now and save up for a new mobo/cpu such as the Intel I3 8100 Coffee Lake. Im from New Zealand "by the way" so parts arent cheap here and my budget is
    220 NZD.
