Windows 10: is File Explorer supposed to freeze then crash?

- When I open FE it seems unusually slow ie compared to other programs. Sometimes nothing happens. Other times nothing happens AND the arrow to the right also doesn't help. As often as not it freezes then crashes. Far from saving time, FE wastes my time. - There is no error message. - I'm on Windows 10. - What should I try? Isn't this supposed to work? - A screenshot won't help. Just imagine FE sitting there wasting time, doing nothing.

File explorer crashes (not freeze but crash)

When trying to use file explorer, it immediately crashes and restarts.

Any app that tries to use explorer, the app will work up until the file explorer window appears.

e.g. My browser will work, until I try to save a file, then it crashes (because it needs to ask me where to save the file).

It does not "FREEZE" it crashes. There is no "not responding" alert.

Effective Way to Solve the File Explorer Crashes Issue

You can try the following steps:

1. Tap down the Windows button first to activate the search bar.
2. After that, in the search bar type control, and then click on the top-most search result, that is on Control Panel.

What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.
