I am at home, only need to use window update and firefox and edge to browse bank web site, if block cmd.exe, powershell.exe and explorer.exe with public profile in outbound traffic in windows firewall, will it influence window update and window login from my local login?when I blocked powershell and cmd.exe in public profile in window firewall and new firewall , there is no response to open file dialog after click browse button.

• Which application are you referring to?

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

• Right click on the shortcut or in File explorer and select Run as administrator check if that helps.
• Also observe when you type password do you get a prompt for saving password just above Taskbar.

Trying to download Chrome browser (exe file)

when trying to open, prompts open with and list programs to open with

will not allow exe file.

 

some .exe files hang


In the last 48 hours, some .exe files do not execute. If started from explorer, explorer hangs. No error messages. These files run on another Win 10 machine. Nothing obvious in the event viewer. I note that *.exe file cannot be deleted when the system is in this state. I must reboot to regain access to the .exe file. sfc /scannnow shows no errors.

Any suggestions?
