Windows 10: Is it necessary to remove existing Antivirus?

I bought Avast antivirus for my windows 7 from here. should we uninstall the existing antivirus before installing the new one?

It can work both ways.



If you use the apt-get install command on an app that's in the repositories, you will need to have an active web connection, because the app is downloaded to a temporary folder on the N900 before it's installed.



However, sometimes you can download the .deb file to your MyDocs folder or you can transfer the .deb file to that folder in mass storage mode if you downloaded it to your PC first.



All you need to do then is start X-Term and gain Root access, then type the following:



cd MyDocs

Then press Enter



Then type.



dpkg -i (and then the name of the program).deb

Then press Enter



So if you were installing a game called Chess you would type:



dpkg -i Chess.deb

Then press enter.

If there is ANY anti-virus already installed , yes you most definitely need to remove it. Be advised that removing some of them can be very tricky. If its Norton's or McAfee you should go to their website and use their dedicated removal tool.

 

Yes. You should only have one active anti-virus on a system at a time, as having more than one could cause them to conflict, leaving you even more vulnerable.

 

Yes, I think its compulsaryry. It's best to uninstall old anti-virus software before installing a new one, assuming you make sure to stay safe during the transition.
