Is it possible in Windows 11, to make the E drive my new SSD be the default place for all...

I have a Windows 11 desk top pc which came with a 1 TB SSD. Now 5 short months later it has only 167 GB left of free space, so I got a second 1 TB SSD which I have installed and initialized the 2nd SSD and now I am left wondering, is there a way to use the now labeled E drive be the default drive for storing my files? I saw a similar question with a Windows 10 computer and checked mine using the similar steps, but Labels is not a tab in windows 11, where it is in Windows 10. Is this doable, or do I have to manually direct the files i.e. documents, pictures, music and videos to the E drive?

    :)

  2. How in WIN 11 do I change the drive letter of the CD/ROM drive?

    Thanks, Greg.

So this is what worked, step by step.

    Reboot

Drive is listed as E: in file explorer.

Drive not listed in Disk Management.

Insert DVD, it plays after short pause.

Disk management now shows Audio CD as E:

Right click, change letter to R: (while playing!)

    Reboot.

Drive now shows as BD-RE drive as R: in File Explorer.

    The bottom line is

    - File Explorer does not provide for changing drive letter afics.

    - Disk Management seems to need a disk to be in the drive for it to "see" the drive. I can't recall is this is Win 10 behaviour

I don't recall having any difficulty with this in Win 10 (its possible that the Win 10 default drive allocation was "after" my external drives; or I "just changed it").

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Changing installation of windows from a HDD Drive (current unit C) to a SSD Drive (current unit E)

    Hi,

I recently bought a Lenovo P360 desktop computer. The computer comes with three drives:

    - HDD 4 Tb (unit C)

    - HDD 2 Tb (unit D)

    - SSD 1 Tb (unit E)

For some reason, in Lenovo they decided to install Windows 11 in the HDD drive of 4 Tb, and make such drive the unit C of my computer.

In order to improve the performance of the computer, I would like to reinstall Windows 11 in the SSD drive , while deleting the installation from the HDD 4 Tb drive.

Could you let me know which steps I need to follow in order to have Windows installed in the SSD?

(For info, I have already created a USB recovery from the Lenovo webpage with Windows 11)

    Many thanks in advance,

    Miquel

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
