Windows 10: Is it possible in windows to connect two monitors with different resolutions

I have a lap top and two monitors.When I connect the first monitor everything is OK. I get the full 3440x1440 resolution.When I connect the second it displays its own 1920x1080.But the problem is that when I connect the second monitor the first monitor goes down to 1920x1200 and there is no 3440x1440 option in the menu any more.Is it possible in windows to connect two monitors with different resolutions?

The display resolution depends on the monitors that you have plugged into your computer. The display resolution modes will vary with each display based on the video card device, monitor size, video driver, and monitor driver.
By default, Windows chooses the best display settings for your PC based on your monitor, so it is recommended to set the screen resolution of the display to the (Recommended) native resolution to get the best display on your monitor.

To have better clarity on the issue, let us know the model numbers of your monitors, so that we can provide you the exact display resolution which is recommended to your monitors.

Meanwhile, try the below methods and see if this helps.

Changing the Display Resolution from Settings.

Step 1: Right Click on an empty space on the desktop and click on
Display Settings.

Step 2: In the
Display Settings window, scroll down and click on 'Advanced display settings' option under
Multiple displays.

Step 3: Then, click on
Display adapter properties for Display 1, Display 2, or
Display 3; whichever monitor you want to change the resolution for.

Step 4: Once the Display properties pops-up, click on 'List All Modes' option.

Step 5: Select a display mode that you want for the selected display and click on
OK.

Step 6: Then, click on
Apply and OK for the changes to take effect.

If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver by opening
Device Manager, right-click on the monitor drivers, and select
Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the drivers.

1. Adjusting monitor resolution
   
   You can try to adjust the monitor resolution; it is best to adjust to the same resolution as the external monitor.
   
2. Change to a different model
   
   Win Key + P Try changing to a different type of mode to see if you can connect to second monitor successfully.
   

In addition, may I ask if this monitor is recognized in the device manager as well as in the BIOS?

Moreover, the output of different manufacturers' devices is different, and you could also refer to the specific manual of your device for the specific output.

Unpredictable, sporadic loss of resolution with external monitor with Microsoft Office applications

For us to better assist you with your concern, kindly answer the following questions:

• Does the issue also happens when your laptop is not connected to the ASUS monitor?
• What is the resolution you're currently using when your laptop is connected to the monitor? Are you using the recommended resolution of the laptop which is 2560 x 1440 or are you using the monitor's resolution which is 3840 x 2160?
• Aside from rebooting your computer, what other troubleshooting steps you've done to address this issue?
