Windows 10: Is it possible to backup system image of only primary drive, not secondary?

I have a 1TB primary (C drive. My secondary (D is 5TB. I have an external hard drive (E that is also 5TB. Of course my 5TB external drive isn't large enough to backup a system image of 6TB. I see no option for backing up a system image of only my primary drive... Is this even possible? I want to avoid buying a bigger external drive if possible. Thanks!

Is an Image Backup Drive bootable?

Please go back to my original question. I am asking about a secondary internal hard drive. my primary drive runs my computer. I want to place an image of this primary drive onto the secondary drive by using Windows "Create a system image" through the
control panel/system and security, etc.

If I do this, will the secondary drive be bootable with my complete system files and everything else?

It seems like some sort of an OS confusion has happened with your secondary WD Black and I'm sorry to hear about that. *Frown
Maybe re-formatting it would help indeed as the community already mentioned. I'd suggest to take a look at this step-by-step how to partition and format an HDD: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=PYCoid
Keep in mind that this will wipe clean the drive, so you should backup all important data from the drive somewhere else.
I noticed from the screenshots that your HDD appears as Disk 0, this means that it's plugged in the primary SATA port where the SSD (as an OS drive) should be. Actually it is possible that because of this Windows cannot create the image there. Swap the ports of the SSD and the HDD, this might help as well.

Change Drive for Backup and System Image

Wanted to change the drive where my Backups and System Images are stored in order to free up space on the drive I had been storing them on. Folders were created on the hard drive that I want to switch to, but they are all empty. Backups and System Images
continue to be stored on the old drive. How do I make the change? I also noticed that when I made the attempt the longest possible frequency on the list was hourly and I want to do it weekly. How do I accomplish these two tasks?
