Windows 10: is it possible to damage desktop Dell's disk drive by stopping and starting too many times?...

Is it possible to damage desktop Dell's disk drive by stopping and starting too many times? I was watching a movie and taking screen shots galore. Says This device is working properly but no DVD or CD registers anymore as operating, like the other ports do.

It is possible that the issue could be hardware-related. We'd like to know if the hard drive is still being detected from the BIOS or Disk Management. To access Disk management, please follow the steps below:

1. From the Start Menu, right-click on the Computer icon and choose Manage from the context menu.
2. Click on Disk Management, which appears in the left-hand side under the heading Storage.
3. The list of the hard drives available is now be visible in the center of the window.

If you're able to find the hard disk from the list, you can try to create a partition on your hard disk. Please refer to this link:

If you're unable to find the hard drive, it is possible that the hard drive is failing. I suggest that you contact the device manufacturer for further assistance.

If your hard drive was physically damaged you may not be able to recover the contents of the disk. You need to show your hard drive to a professional who is specially trained to examine hard drives.

Even if the hard drive is physically damaged, it may be possible to recover the data on it, but you'll need a specialist to do this and unfortunately those specialists are very expensive. It will likely be less expensive to buy a new computer.

 

Motherboard Possibly Being Damaged

Hi all. I have a 1 year old Dell Inspiron 560 Desktop. Now I have had my onboard NIC and Soundcard go out. I heard that since these have gone bad on me, that it can damage my motherboard and possibly within the next few months the motherboard will go out completely. Now if I like turned off the NIC and soundcard permanently and just get a new NIC and Soundcard installed, will it stop doing damage to my motherboard? I really need this question answered. I really hope it stops doing any further damage to it if I do this. I'm not sure though.
