  1. Is it possible to disable the ability to add new icons to the desktop but still be able to...

I'm working with someone who needs the icons to be on the Home Screen for ease of access but they keep accidentally adding new things to the desktop and it is becoming confusing for them. Is there a way to turn off the ability to add new icons but still keep the necessary ones on the Home Screen? I've tried the gpedit thing that disables it but it also hides the icons. Thanks!

    :)

  2. Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

  3. Desktop icons

    Hi,

There are many possible reasons why this issue is happening. To help isolate the issue, we'd like to verify if the Auto arrange icons option is disabled. Follow the steps below to check:

    • Right-click anywhere on your desktop screen.
    • Hover the mouse pointer to View.
    • Make sure that there is no check mark next to Auto arrange icons option.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.

How can i restore my accidental deletion of about 1/2 of my desktop icons

    Hi,

Since your desktop icons are not in the Recycle Bin, we suggest that you create a new shortcut for your preferred applications. Follow the steps below:

    • Right-click on your desktop > New > Shortcut.
    • Enter the path of the application you want to create an icon or select Browse... > click OK > Next > Finish.
Note: If the deleted icons on your desktops are not shortcuts, but are saved files, it may be possible to retrieve them if they are saved in OneDrive.

Let us know if you have other inquiries.
