Windows 10: Is it possible to filter photos by file type and date?

I'd like to only download video off my phone, is it possible to filter to only file type? I would also like to download photos by month or year, is it possible to filter to a specific month and only download that month?

Searched the forums for hours and see that others have the same issue, but I didn't find any solution.

I want to find all files that were modified in the last year contained within a folder and all it's sub-folders. I want to then filter by folder path by unchecking the folders for which I do not want any search results returned. Then I want to sort by date.

File Explorer used to allow all this to be possible, but filtering doesn't seem to work anymore in Windows 10 (except filter by date, which does still work). Using "View", "Group by", is not a useful workaround in my case.

Steps to recreate the problem:

- open File Explorer

- type "*" in the top right search box

- list of files is returned

- it is possible to filter by "date modified";
PROBLEM: it is not possible to filter by "name", "type", "folder path"

I tried the two suggested solutions and they did not work.

As reported by others, occasionally "computing filters..." pops up when I click on the drop down arrow of one of the problematic headings, but not always, and it either closes within seconds or never finishes.

Thanks again for your replies. Yes, I am looking to be able to select or deselect some file types (or some folder paths). There is no problem with sorting.

It was possible with Windows 7 and previous versions to select/deselect from the drop down menu. It is currently possible to do so in Windows 10 but only for dates. Given that the popup comes saying "computing filters" when I click on the drop down arrow,
it seems that it should still be possible in Windows 10 to filter types and folder paths but there is a bug somewhere preventing it from working.

Hopefully somebody has other suggestions for how to resolve this?

 

Cortana search filter list

I have a lot of space for display content in Cortana search list, and 80% of it not used because Cortana sorting items by types.
How disable all filters and make visible all suggested content?
