I've had this issue for a while now, I don't live in a particularly stable area in regards to internet access so my connection often drops, usually only for five or so minutes but it does occasionally go out for hours. When this happens, my Windows 10 (currently on most recent update) laptop will eventually just drop the WiFi connection. I can reconnect to the network manually of course but if Internet access doesn't re-establish shortly it soon drops it again.

I have tried every troubleshooting guide on network connectivity issues under the sun. I've even tried fiddling around with the WLAN AutoConfig service and settings using netsh to no avail. I even tried completely wiping the laptop and reinstalling everything fresh, making sure it was all (drivers n all) fully updated just in case it was a software bug, but, I can tell from the hours of searching online I've done that I'm not the only one who has encountered this annoying problem and no one ever seems to have a solution.

I'm hoping someone on here may actually be able to change that. There's got to be some small little registry setting somewhere or something like that I can use to disable this annoying behaviour, surely?

If it makes any different my network adapter is an Intel AC 9260 BTW. As I say, drivers are up-to-date for it. These lines show up in the System log in Event Viewer when it happens too:

7021 - Connection telemetry fields and analysis usage

WLAN AutoConfig detected limited connectivity, attempting automatic recovery.

8000 - Miniport Halt flow (driver disable)

    The \Device\NDMP26 service entered the Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9260 160MHz state.

7005 - SAR value max TX power (WRDS)

7010 - driver enabled (miniport init)

    6062 - Lso was triggered

  2. Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

    2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

I Hope you solve out your query soon.

  3. Unable to display list of wireless networks.

    Hi Richard,

Wireless networks could be set as a private network and that could be a possible reason why you are experiencing issues with viewing some wireless networks within your area. For us to provide better assistance, we would need to know if you are trying to
connect to a public wireless network.

For initial troubleshooting, we suggest performing network reset. Follow these steps to do so:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Click on Network and Internet.
    • Under Status, look for Network troubleshooter and then click on Network reset.
    • Restart your computer once the process completed.

If the same issue persists, you can follow the steps provided on this
    link
. It provides information and steps on how to address network connection issues in Windows 10.

    Update us with the results.
