Windows 10: is it possible to recover 7 year old files?

Bit of an interesting situation:I recently recovered a 7 yr old laptop out of my garage in order to check out some old stuff I remembered was on it. I had to replace the CMOS battery and after booting it up for the first time Windows was completely reset. There was only my recycle bin and Microsoft edge, no files to be found. Is there any way to recover the files that were on my C: drive? Or was there just a total drive failure in those seven years and it’s not possible to get it back. I’ve tried running the windows restore options but none of them work because it doesn’t have any data or memo

Hi, you would need to describe exactly what you have done step by step as the possibilities in your minimal description are many. We don't even know for sure exactly where your original disk is or what method you have used, so no point suggesting data recovery methods yet.
