    Is it possible to recreate an old hard drive from a .vhd file?


    I'm trying to recreate the state my Win7 hard drive was in before I removed it from my old and scrapped 2011 HP desktop and converted it into a USB drive and began scavenging and deleting files from it.I've been transferring my old hard drive in its current state onto a comparable sized thumb drive before it fails me, when I noticed it seemed to take a long time on a .vhd file so I looked up what it was and hence this question. The old drive is 10 1/2 years old that I've owned since March of 2011. I want to back it up to another thumb drive in the state it was in before I started deleting thin

    Stored files in Hard Drive

    You can use Windows search. Just search for *.* on a desired drive. When list is done just arrange them by size LOL.

    You can do it via command line as well and make an output text file showing files and their sizes (but without arrangement)

    Old Hard drive to new hard drive

    I now have my old hard drive converted to an external drive and am wondering what is the best way to move files from the old to the new. I was thinking of booting the old drive and saving the files I want to the cloud and then downloading them to my new
    computer. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
