  1. Is it possible to reinstall recovery drive files onto an existing recovery drive?

Last time I used my recovery drive, my PC ran into an error in the second phase which resulted in severely limited options in the bluescreen menu. Attempting to recover from the recovery drive at this point just immediately resulted in an error. In a last ditch effort to fix my PC, I messed around with the diskpart in command line and cleaned all. Catch is, my USB drive was still connected. Would it be possible that my recovery drive was cleaned, and as such I can now remake it? I'm attempting it right now my PC doesn't seem to register the USB.

    :)

    recovery drive

    Hi Neil,

One of the possible reasons why this issue occurs is when the partition that you've selected is where Windows is installed. We'll need to gather a bit more information to better identify what's causing this. Kindly answer the following:

    • Which drive or partition are you using when creating a recovery drive? Can you send us a screenshot of it?
    • Did you receive any error messages? Can you send us a screenshot of it?
    • What is the capacity of the partition which you're creating the recovery drive?

In the meantime, if you are creating a recovery drive using a thumb drive or external hard disk, we recommend that you follow the steps in this article:
How to: Create a Recovery Drive for reinstalling Windows 10.

We'll be waiting for your response.

  3. Recovery Drive

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your concern. In some cases, this could happen if you created a system restore point on your computer. Windows will use the recovery drive to revert to the previous time where your computer is working properly, or where you created
it. Please don't attempt to put any files in the recovery drive or the restore process will fail. To give you more suggestion and helpful information, we would like to more about your computer. Please answer the question below:

    • Did you make any changes to your computer before this issue occurs?
    • Have you install Windows Update before getting the Recovery drive?
    • Which version of Windows are you using? To check it, follow the steps through this
      link.

In the meantime, you can check the files inside the recovery drive and confirm if there are essential files that you need.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Is it possible to reinstall recovery drive files onto an existing recovery drive?

    Hard Drive Data Recovery

swapping the PCB didn't work and freezing the drive didn't work, so recovery isn't possible without sending it to a center. thanks for the advise.
