  1. Is it possible to remove filtering from a child account?

The child in question is nearly 18 and has somehow set himself up on as part of a family group, He was the owner of the group and it's only member and he was getting all sort of restrictions on his Xbox console. We figured out how to sign and and "leave" the family, but the restrictions were still in place. On my Microsoft account, I went to the family site and added him as a member having never used the family settings before. Once he accepted the invite, I removed all restrictions that I could find for him, yet he is still seeing the restrictions. How do we remove these?!

    :)

Unable to remove child account from Family

Thanks Elise. Your suggestion worked. I contacted live chat option via "Get Help" app.

Just for others who read this in future I had performed the following steps to solve the issue.

    1. Log into Microsoft Family Safety
    2. Select 3 dots on the top right of child's card & select "Remove consent for this child's account"
    3. It then warns, "You are about to remove parental consent for this child. They will no longer have permissions to access certain Microsoft sites and services."
    4. Click on "Remove consent" button
    5. Go back to Microsoft Family Safety home page. Wait for few seconds for settings to reflect. The child account will disappear from family home page.

  3. How to add Child account for safety filter

    Hi Kerry,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    • Which web browser are you using on the system?
    • Are the settings on the Family Safety options on your computer are the same with the one on
      http://familysafety.live.com?
I suggest you to login with your parental account and check if you are able to manage the family settings.

If the issue still persist, it might appears that the Child account is not configure correctly. I suggest you to remove the Family Safety and configure it again.

How do I remove Family Safety?

    Account help

    Now, setup Family Safety.

    Windows help and learning

After creating the child account, you can then go to the Family Safety website, login using the parent account and then manage your child's restrictions and monitoring options.

Refer the following Microsoft help article.
