Windows 10: Is it possible to repait the Bios chip?

My computer auto shut down during update and just showing black screen. Only the capslock light is turning on and the screen is black. Have checked the RAM and hard drive in another computer and both are fine. The mechanic says, the chip will have to be replaced. Is there any other solution?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Where is the bios-chip?

If you're not aware, if you're having BIOS issues you might want to read chapter 3 page 31 (BIOS Setup) of your motherboard manual... Typically the BIOS chip is located somewhere near the CPU and is an 8 pin package with 4 pin contacts on each side of the chip. You'll more than likely need a magnifying lens, but look on the chip and see if it reads one of these manufacturer names. PLCC-32 Package type: PLCC-32 (Flash-Eeproms) AMD EON PMC SST ST WINBOND DIP-8 Package type: DIP-8 (Serial-Eeproms) AMIC EON 2 ESMT MACRONIX WINBOND Another possible location.
