    Hallo Dexter,

    wrong headline by me - I am searching for the cached pmtu.

    Your proposal is the configured mtu - the pmtu will be handled during connection start, can be altered during connection and shall be cached for each route in time the session exist (
    RFC 1191 6.2 page 10 ).

    I want to know where I can get this value (or a list of values for each established session/ different route).

    The goal is to check if a mtu configured value on L3 switch/ router will become active or not ( like the 1492 for pppoe connections, the ones for several tunnels, ip mtu xxxx, ip tcp adjust-mss ).

    pmtu is anything between the min packet site (576) and the max mtu (1500 for Ethernet, if you use jumbo packets up to 9k).

    remark:

    "Then you'll see all the connections' MTU in use."

    - not really -

    then I can see the mtu that is configured on network adapter.

    Windows MTU active value after pmtu ?

    Hi Robert, I am Dexter, an Independent Advisor, here to help you.

    You should open a CMD prompt and run this command:

    netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces

    Then you'll see all the connections' MTU in use.

    Windows MTU active value after pmtu ?

    How can I get the value for the pmtu windows had coordinated with all network components in path?

    I can set it using netsh or registry - but which value is in use after the automatics?

    In switches/ routers I can set mtu, ip mtu, tcp mss...

    But how can I get the information which mtu is in use (not the confired one) by Windows ?
