  1. Is it possible to stop apps running in the dGPU when AC is disconnected?

I've noticed that when transferring from AC to battery on my laptop apps will continue to use the dedicated nvidia GPU until they're either manually restarted or the system is. At idle the GPU uses around 11W so this effectively halves my battery life.

I've used all the options available in the nvidia control panel and built into windows to try and stop this, but these only work when the apps first start (I.e when I boot off battery). So if I run from the wall then disconnect, battery life will still be terrible.

Is there some other way I can automatically restart the apps when I disconnect the power cord?

    Thanks.

    stoping running programs

    Hi,

There are certain apps in Windows that aren't possible to be stopped as they're needed by your system. If you want to stop certain apps to be stopped from running in the back ground, follow the steps below.

    • Press Windows key, and type in "task manager".
    • Choose Task Manager > More details.
    • Right-click on the apps that you want to stop from running, and click on
      End task
      .

Let us know what happens after following the suggestion.

To repeat the two means of stopping things I suggested running other than using the task manager I suggested:

Is it possible to stop apps running in the dGPU when AC is disconnected?

G751JY AC charger disconnects while gaming.

I've been struggling with nearly the same issue with my Asus G751JY. My original battery does still hold a charge, and will run over an hour when disconnected from AC.

But when I'm doing demanding tasks, like gaming, it disconnects from AC power, like you described. Sometimes it would reconnect to AC, sometimes no. When it appeared to disconnect from AC, and nothing I did would make it connect again, took it to a computer shop. They said battery and AC charger tested fine, and said most likely a motherboard issue. I was within a 2 year extended warranty (barely), and sent to Asus repair facility, which replaced both the motherboard, and the power port.

The repair did not resolve the issue. It would disconnect from AC and switch to battery under mostly demanding tasks like gaming.

I saw some behavior that led me to suspect the AC charger. I just bought a new 230 watt charger, and am sad to say, it still disconnects from AC power. So I have replaced the Motherboard, Power port, and AC Charger. I haven't replaced the battery yet, but seems like maybe the last possible culprit? What else could it be!?

How did your battery replacement work out for you? Have you any new insights?
