Windows 10: Is it possible to take a screenshot/recording while the monitor is asleep or turned off?

If I set Xbox Game Bar to record a game, and then turn the PC monitor off, everything between the monitor turning off and it turning back on again will display the same frame the image that was on the screen right before the monitor was turned off. Taking screenshots with print screen yields the same result. This also occurs if I try to screenshot an MP4 file that is playing, or take a screenshot of something in Edge internet browser.For some reason, this doesn't appear to apply to certain things intrinsic to Windows, such as folders or the command line, which visually update just fine with

My workaround is to use PowerPoint Screen Recorder but this need additional screen capture.

The reason for Screen Recorder is Windows 10 Mouse Cursor for Office Menu item disappear when select Screen Capture App. It is cumbersome to show Tech Support what is selected on Office App on captured screen...

How do I get my monitor to sleep when the computer is asleep?

  When you say “monitor to sleep when the computer is asleep”, do you want to the monitor to turn off after a specific time?
  

If you want the monitor to turn off after a specific time, you may want to refer the steps mentioned below:

1. 
   Press
   Windows logo key + R, to open Run dialog box.
   
2. 
   Type
   control and click on OK.
   
3. 
   Select
   Large icons from the drop down for View by.
   
4. 
   Click on
   Power Options and click on Choose when to turn off the display.
   
5. 
   Select the desired time for
   Turn off the display.
   
6. 
   Click on
   Save changes.

Windows not asleep but monitor will not turn on

This is one of those almost-impossible to Google questions because the results are flooded with results about 'sleeping' computers and monitor problems.

My Windows 10 laptop monitor is fine, as is the external HDMI monitor. Additionally, my computer is not asleep. However, in my "Power & sleep settings" I have my screen set to turn off, when plugged in, after 15 minutes. I have it set to never go to sleep, when plugged in.

The problem is, on occasion, when I come back to the computer with the black screen, I can't get the monitor to turn back on. I hit keys and nothing. Again, the computer is not asleep and I can see the back light on the keyboard as well as the power and HDD lights. The only thing I can do is hard reboot, which I don't like to do.

Besides changing the setting so that the screen is never turned off, is there anything that can be done here? Thank you.
