Windows 10: Is it possible to upgrade Windows 7 to Win 10 for Free if Windows 7 version is OEM or is a...

I may just do a full fresh Win 10 install instead of upgrading from 7 since the online upgrade has repeatedly failed. I have noticed though that many people have posted that Product ID 00359-OEM-8992687-00249 the ID on his computer is an unauthorized version of Windows even though we purchased the computer with Windows 7 on it from Best Buy. Could this product ID status or the fact that it's OEM be part of the problem with the online update?

Windows 7 Home Premium -> Professional Upgrade

Sorry for posting in this "old" topic but I also have a question regarding this problem:
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium Version 32 bit and I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. The Home Premium was not a OEM version and now I wanted to buy a OEM Windows 7 Pro version which costs 30€. Is it possible to upgrade a non OEM version with a OEM version or is this not working?

Hope this is not against the rules. If you do a clean install of Windows 10, it may, (has for me) accept a Win 7 OEM key and activate.

 

Cons of using System Builder oem versions of Windows 7?

Heyas folks I'm getting ready to build a new computer and I'm thinking about using windows 7. Are there any cons to using the system builder oem versions of
Windows 7 for myself as oppose to using a consumer upgrade version?
